Telc Exam B2 – Sprachbausteine
Telc B2 exam comprises two unique parts that exist only in the Telc exam B1 and Telc exams B2 and test knowledge of structure and vocabulary.
Sprachbausteine 1 (15 minutes)
In a correspondence consisting of a text of approximately 280 words, there are 10 gaps. Each gap has three multiple-choice answers. The 10 gaps are grammatical in nature.
Sprachbausteine 2 (15 minutes)
In a formal email reply to an advertisement consisting of a text of approximately 350 words, there are 10 gaps. There are 15 possible answers to these gaps. The 10 gaps are lexical in nature.
All possible answers are capitalized to prevent the distinction between upper and lower case from being used to solve the problem.
Technique
1. To complete these two parts, you need to analyze the sentence with the gap and determine which sentence element is suitable for the gap. You need to ask yourself what fits the meaning of the sentence. Is it an article, a noun, or an adjective? Then these questions need to be explored further, e.g., what kind of article is being considered? The definite or the indefinite article? And in which causal context does this article occur? Etc.
2. This approach allows you to quickly find out which answer is appropriate in Part 1 and, in Part 2, minimize the multitude of options and guess the correct answer.
These two parts are similar to the Sprachbaussteine in Telc exam B1. Only their scope, complexity, and topics are at B2 level. If you have practiced these in Telc exam B1, it will be easier for you to tackle them and use our recommended technique.
