Goethe Exam A1 Reading Comprehension

Goethe Exam A1 – reading comprehension

Goethe Exam A1 reading consists of reading and writing. You have 25 minutes for reading and 20 minutes for writing.

Part 1

This part consists of two emails. For the first email, you must answer two true/false questions. The second email is a bit longer, and the test taker must answer three true/false questions.

Pay attention to keywords such as alle, niemand, immer, nie, selten, oft, manchmal and especially negation, not only in the text but also in the question. The tense is also important, both in the question and in the text. Is it about the perfect or present tense?

Part 2

You have to check the boxes five times in the exam where you can find the relevant information. However, we recommend the following two things:

1. You must pay attention to the link above, but you shouldn’t rely on it. This can sometimes be confusing.

Example: www.Schiffsverein.de                    www.ruderverein.de

The two addresses may sound the same to you at level A1, but the content below differs enormously.

2. Pay more attention to the content under these links:

www.Schiffsverein.de                                                   www.ruderverein.de

Schiffrundfahrten                                                            Kajak mieten

Hafenfest                                                                            täglich von 7 bis 18 Uhr

Schiffveranstaltungen

Part 3

In this Part of Goethe Exam A1, You must answer 5 questions with true or false answers when faced with posters, advertisements, and similar everyday items!

You must keep the following in mind: First, don’t let yourself be distracted by the layout. Second, pay attention to small details, such as times, dates, etc. These often contain the answers. Third, there are often no complete sentences! And you need to practice understanding such sentences.

Reading Parts 2 and 3 in the Goethe Exam A1 are also rarely found in textbooks and you have to practice them yourself. If you live in Germany, pay attention to advertisements and posters when you’re out and about. If you live abroad and are learning German, you will find several free model tests with similar questions on our website www.deutschtests.com.

We summarize everything in two important points about the Goethe Exam A1 and Telc A1 exams:

1. The Telc and Goethe A1 exams are identical in both reading and listening. You don’t need to worry about choosing between the two tests.

2. The Telc A1 exam is an easy test in reading and listening if you have practiced properly, because many of the questions are based on everyday life. Listening parts 2 and 3 and Reading 2 and 3 are common practice if you take a German course in Germany. They are not easy for anyone abroad. They are rarely practiced in textbooks, and you can only master them with diligent practice.

At www.deutschtests.com, you have several model tests where you can practice at your leisure and from anywhere, not just for the Goethe A1 exam, but for all Goethe and Telc exams.
