Telc Test B1 – listening comprehension
Telc Test B1 – Listening Comprehensionconsists of three parts and lasts approximately 30 minutes. In this module, you can only choose between True and False.Part 1
In this part of Telc Test B1 , five people take a position on a topic. Before you hear them, you will hear an introduction that formulates the central question. Each person speaks about this topic for approximately 35 seconds, and you must determine their position on the topic. The difficulty in this part lies in the fact that one of the four people speaks with a German accent. You will only hear each person once. Each person has a statement, which you confirm with True or reject with False. This part is unlike any other part in either Goethe or Telc, although B1 Goethe exam Reading Part 4 makes it easier to complete, as both parts focus on statements.Part 2
This part involves a dialogue between a moderator and a guest lasting 3:40 minutes. You must answer 10 true/false questions about this conversation. This means you have to answer one question every 35 seconds.Technique
1. You first have to read the questions and find any prominent vocabulary or keywords. 2. By skimming through the questions, you have to find out or guess the topic of the interview. 3. The first time you listen, you have to follow the thread through the conversation and answer some questions. 4. The second time you listen, you have to answer the remaining questions and make sure you have checked the other questions correctly. 5. If you lose the thread, try to find the next keyword or idea to get back into it. The moderator’s questions will also help with this. You will listen to the conversation twice and this will prepare you for Part 2 of Telc exam B2. Telc exam B2 Reading Part 2 is similar, but a bit longer and can only be listened to once.Part 3
You will listen to five different texts twice: radio news, event tips, answering machine messages, telephone information, traffic reports, etc. Each of these texts is between 25 and a maximum of 35 seconds long. The texts in this part are similar to those in B1 Goethe exam Part 1 and Telc A2 Test Part 2. The only differences are that the texts in Telc Test B1 are slightly longer than Telc A2 Test and, on average, shorter than B1 Goethe. This part also focuses on selective listening, i.e., extracting the necessary information from a wealth of information. Here are links to free German model tests:
