Telc A2 Test – reading comprehension
Telc A2 Test begins with the Listening Comprehension and continues with Reading. The Reading module consists of four parts, each of which you have 50 minutes to complete, including the Writing part. We therefore recommend allocating a maximum of 10 minutes to this part. This time allocation may vary depending on your competency profile.Part 1
In this part of the Telc A2 Test, you must use a graphic, website, information board, etc., to understand information that will guide you through five different multiple-choice questions. The graphics are usually taken from everyday life. The difficulty of this part of the Telc A2 Test is that the third answer in each question always leaves everything open, e.g., a different floor, a different category, a different day, etc. Although this part may seem unfamiliar to most German learners, it can be mastered with simple practice. For more practice, you can use Part 2 of Goethe A2 Test.Part 2
You must answer 5 different true/false questions and answer a text of up to 200 words. This part is similar to Part 1 in Goethe A2 Test in terms of scope. They differ only in the format of the questions. In Goethe A2 Test, these are multiple-choice questions.Part 3
On the one hand, there are 5 people who are looking for or interested in various things; on the other hand, there are 7 advertisements, websites, or email addresses that you can assign to these people. In the official A2 Telc Test, there are 6 people and 8 advertisements; one situation or person is already given as an example. Two factors make the selection more difficult: number 1: You have more options, i.e., 7 advertisements are possible for each situation. Number two: A situation cannot be assigned, and you must therefore enter X or select it from the dropdown menu on our web portal. Some advertisements appear similar at first glance. However, upon closer inspection, they are different. If you’re taking the paper exam, use a marker. Highlight the keywords in each situation and the keywords in the advertisements. It’s best to use multiple colors, one color for each situation, where you can quickly highlight the keyword as you skim, and then quickly highlight the key words in the corresponding advertisement with the same color. As a rule, only two advertisements are relevant for each of two situations. This means that at first glance, two advertisements are likely to be chosen. For the others, matching can be done quickly. You can’t use this technique online. You must first skim the situations and then the advertisements, and only then begin selecting the appropriate advertisement from the drop-down menu. Our advice: Start with the easily matchable situations and postpone the situations and advertisements that require careful reading; these usually consist of no more than two situations. This section is similar to Part 4 of the Goethe A2 Exam. This means that for more practice, use the Goethe A2 exam. This section is also similar to Telc Test B1 Part B1. In B1, you have more situations and more signs. In summary, the three parts of the Telc A2 Test vary in difficulty. Part 3 appears to be the most difficult for students, and therefore requires separate practice. The similarities between the Goethe A2 Test and the A2 Telc Test provide an opportunity to use both exam formats for practice. Here are links to free German model tests:
